Named for a minister under Napoléon III. A blend of Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu, Carcajolu-Neru, Montanaccia, Morescono, Morescola, and Aleatico—grapes that were nearly extinct before the Abbatucci family intervened. Foot-crushed, aged in older demi-muids. Dark cherry and blackberry fruit, wild herbs, gravel-like minerality, and a peppery, savory finish. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and remarkable persistence. Sourced from granite-arena slopes in the Taravo Valley of Southern Corsica, the vines thrive at around 150 meters altitude, imparting a distinctive minerality and an aromatic profile evocative of the Corsican maquis. Domaine Comte Abbatucci, a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture since 2000, meticulously cultivates its vineyards with a holistic philosophy, emphasizing deep respect for the land and its biodiversity, This emblematic cuvee stands as a testament to the Abbatucci family's dedication to preserving and showcasing nearly extinct native Corsican grape varieties, resulting in a powerful and distinctive expression of Corsican heritage.
