2022 Elio Sandri, Langhe Nebbiolo

Elio Sandri is a tiny, boutique grower in Monforte d’Alba. Their Nebbiolo thrives on Perno hill's steep, shadier slopes (helpful in warm vintages!) where wild herbs grow among the vines. The use of native yeasts, long, gentle fermentations underscore a commitment to traditional, low intervention winemaking. Licorice, bold cherry, spice, tobacco - pair with brick oven pizza or sausage pasta. Fermented naturally in cement tank and aged for one year in a single 25-hectoliter Slavonian-oak cask. A gutsier Langhe than most, I would give a short decant.
