2023 Adega a Barouta, Ribeiro, Ventoleiro Blanco

Adega A Barouta brings together three leading figures in the contemporary Iberian wine landscape: Fernando García and Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi, known for reshaping the conversation around Garnacha and mountain viticulture in the Sierra de Gredos, and Roberto Núñez, a Chilean agronomist and winemaker with deep roots in Galicia. Their work centers on old mixed plantings in Ribeiro, where hillside parcels on decomposed granite (sabrego) and steady Atlantic influence define the character of the region’s historic white blends. Ventoleiro Blanco is a blend primarily of Treixadura with Godello, Albariño, and Loureira, sourced from vineyards whose elevation and well-drained soils give the wine its underlying structure and tension. Fermented with native yeasts and raised in neutral vessels, the cuvée reflects a commitment to clean farming and a restrained, transparent approach in the cellar. It stands as a clear, site-driven articulation of Ribeiro’s traditional field-blend whites.
