2023 Arretxea, Hegoxuri Blanc, Irouleguy

With an ancient history dating back to Roman times, the Irouléguy region's unique climate, grapes, and geology create wines that are unparalleled in the world of wine. Domaine Arretxea was founded in 1993 by Michel and Thérèse Riouspeyrous. They were among the first to practice biodynamic viticulture in the region, passionately protecting the unique Basque terroir. The winery, now run by their sons, Iban and Teo, is a rare find. The limited wines they produce are filled with character, style, and soul, embodying the spirit of the Basque people. Hegoxuri is Arretxea’s flagship white blended with three local grapes, aged in demi-muids and foudres. It is bone-dry, racy and tart, with notes of lime, ginger, and salted caramel.
