2023 Benedicte & Stephane Tissot, Arbois Chardonnay, Les Bruyeres

Bénédicte and Stéphane Tissot are the undisputed darlings of the Jura. They are significant landowners with 50 hectares under vine — a colossal footprint compared to the regional average of six hectares. Their operation produces 40 different cuvées, supported by 40 full-time staff and 50 harvesters, all while maintaining strict biodynamic certification. Beyond their commercial success, they serve as the region's educators; a generation of winemakers has passed through the "School of Tissot" before launching their own labels. They are, essentially, the Jura's intellectual and viticultural think tank. The 2023s are beautiful and incredibly drinkable. Les Bruyeres comes from a single southern-facing slope, Triassic clay with blue marl subsoil. 2 years of aging in barrel. Striking smoky aromatics explode out of the glass. This wine is rich and expansive on the palate, but never out of balance.
