2023 Charodon, Meursault, 1er Cru Blagny

Louis Vallet is a new, rising star, and this wine recently blew us away. Blagny reminds me more of Puligny and St. Aubin than it does with the big three 1er Crus of Meursault (Perrieres, Charmes, and Genevrieres). The guy behind this project has serious pedigree - his father runs a large negociant house. His wines are incredibly hard to come by in Paris and in and around Beaune, and after tasting this exceptional wine, I can totally see why. There are 48 cases of this wine for the world to enjoy. Generous, layered fruit over a stony firm structure - the tension between fruit and acid is awesome and a finish that seems to stay with you for days. It's been a while since I was so excited about a white Burg - I understand what all the hype is about. - MT
