2023 Domaine Giacometti, Patrimonio Rouge, Cru des Agriate

Domaine Giacometti is based in the remote village of Casta, where the family has farmed their vineyards in the rugged, arid landscape of the Agriates Desert since taking over the estate in 1987. This red is made from a blend of 90% Niellucciu and 10% Sciaccarellu, varieties that thrive in the estate’s unique, nutrient-poor clay and granitic soils. In the glass, it shows vibrant notes of wild dark berries and herbs, supported by a structured, medium-bodied texture and a persistent, saline finish. The 2023 growing season provided favorable conditions that helped these vines achieve balanced ripeness while maintaining their signature Mediterranean freshness. This wine is approachable today but possesses the structure to evolve over the next few years, offering a grounded and authentic expression of northern Corsica.
