2023 Domaine Jean Louis Chave, Hermitage Blanc

have’s Hermitage Blanc is drawn from multiple lieux-dits across the hill—Rocoules, Maison Blanche, L’Hermite—each bringing a different side of Marsanne. Planted on granite with pockets of loess and clay, these parcels give both weight and lift.

The wine is built primarily from Marsanne with a small amount of Roussanne, fermented and aged about 18–24 months in a mix of large foudre and smaller barrels. No new oak influence to speak of—this is about assembling the hill, not shaping it.

2023 shows the broader, more open side of Hermitage Blanc—stone fruit, almond, and wax, with the density that defines the appellation without tipping into heaviness.
