2023 Domaine Michel Lafarge, Bourgogne Rouge

Domaine Michel Lafarge is a multi-generational estate based in Volnay, farming biodynamically since the late 1990s. The fruit comes from the Petit Pré parcel, planted between 1966 and 1977 on clay-limestone soils just below the Volnay slope. Sites like this have historically been classified as Bourgogne due to their position on flatter ground, though they share the same underlying structure as the village.

The wine shows red cherry and raspberry with a light earth note, with a medium-bodied frame and steady structure. The 2023 vintage brought a healthy crop and clean fruit, making this approachable now with the balance to hold.
