2023 Dupont-Fahn, Meursault, Les Clous

Raymond Dupont-Fahn is known for breaking the mold. In a village famous for rich, oaky wines, he seeks out tension and nerve. Nowhere is this more apparent than in "Les Clous," a vineyard perched on the upper slopes of Meursault where the air is cooler and the soil is made of hard limestone.

The secret weapon here is the age of the vines. Planted nearly a century ago (85 years), these roots dig deep into the rock, pulling up a mineral intensity that younger vines simply can't match. In the warm 2023 vintage, this high altitude was a lifesaver, acting as a natural air-conditioner that preserved the wine's zesty "crunch."

Raymond treats this treasure gently, using only 10% new oak to ensure you taste the vineyard, not the barrel. The result is a wine with a "vertical" architecture—it stands up straight on the palate with a saline, chiseled finish that is pure class.
