2023 Elio Sandri, Langhe Nebbiolo

Elio Sandri adheres to a rigorous, low-interventionist philosophy at his Cascina Disa estate in Monforte d’Alba, where organic farming and deliberate, hands-off cellar work define the output. This Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced from the cooler, east-facing reaches of the Perno slope, a site selection intended to temper the structural intensity of the Nebbiolo grape. The 2023 growing season was marked by a challenging, variable climate, yet the vineyard’s elevated, shaded position was instrumental in preserving vital acidity and tension throughout the cycle. After natural fermentation in cement and aging in neutral oak, the resulting wine exhibits a focused, architectural structure, defined by fine-grained tannins and a persistent, lean mineral backbone.
