Olivier Lamy continues his rigorous stewardship of the Saint-Aubin appellation by prioritizing minimal intervention, utilizing high-density planting to increase vine competition, and employing larger 300 and 600-liter barrels to ensure the wood remains a neutral textural element. The Clos du Meix, a 0.7-hectare monopole situated at the base of the Saint-Aubin hill, is defined by thin, silty-clay soils over hard limestone bedrock, a composition that consistently yields wines of significant mineral concentration. In the 2023 vintage, the climatic conditions provided a favorable equilibrium, allowing for physiological ripeness while the site’s natural exposure and limestone base preserved essential nerve and tension. The resulting wine is chiseled and structural, characterized by a satiny mid-palate density that transitions into a long, chalky finish. This release reflects the estate’s unwavering intent to express the precise, limestone-driven character of the site rather than the influence of the cellar.
