The 2023 Joseph Dorbon Arbois Rouge Vieilles Vignes Les Bernardines is a classic, terroir-driven expression of Jura red wine, blending 60 percent Ploussard (Poulsard) and 40 percent Pinot Noir from the Arbois AOC. Sourced from the single vineyard Les Bernardines in Vadans, the wine comes from vines over sixty years old rooted in the area’s distinctive yellow marl on gentle southeast-facing slopes.

Joseph Dorbon—and now his nephew, Pierre Laporte, who assumed responsibility beginning with the 2023 vintage—farm organically and work with traditional techniques, including horse-plowing and minimal intervention in their 16th-century cellar. The 2023 season brought generally favorable conditions to the region, yielding wines with freshness, precision, and balanced structure.

The result is a refined, site-specific red that captures both the depth of old vines and the singular character of one of Arbois’s most respected vineyards.
