Giovanna Morganti is widely recognized as one of the greatest Tuscan winemakers of her generation. Carrying on her father's work, she champions local varietals, unfettered by DOCG regulations. Whether the vintage is challenging or stellar, her consistency is unmatched. Giovanna produces wines that speak to the vintage without sacrificing quality. The 2023 harvest in Tuscany required grueling, berry-by-berry selection to ensure quality. Yields are tiny, but the results are magnificent. Bottled separately since 2018, Chiesamonti is the fascinating counterpoint to Le Trame. From a stonier parcel, this Sangiovese (with a splash of Canaiolo) spends two years in used oak. It is ethereal and elegant: silky, higher-toned, with a vivid mineral core.
