Roland Velich’s Moric project is the global benchmark for Blaufränkisch, crafted with a "Burgundian" soul that values elegance and transparency over heavy extraction. Using organic and biodynamic farming, Velich ferment’s his fruit in traditional open-top wooden vats and ages the wine in large, neutral oak casks to protect the grape’s natural energy. This cuvée is a blend from 10- to 50-year-old vines rooted in the diverse limestone and schist soils of Neckenmarkt and Lutzmannsburg. The 2023 vintage was exceptional, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness with smooth, fine-grained tannins while keeping the bright, refreshing acidity that gives the wine its "nerve." The result is a savory, sophisticated red with deep mineral flavors and a persistent finish—a true masterclass in structural clarity.
