2024 Benedicte & Stephane Tissot, Arbois Chardonnay, Patchwork

This iconic estate, for many, is a reference point not only for the Jura, but the wine world at large. Stéphane took over from his father in 1990 and almost immediately began focusing on the vineyards. In 1999, organic certification was received and then biodynamic came five years after. In many ways, there is a Burgundian undercurrent as can be seen with the obsession of terroir-driven bottlings, but, at the end of the day, these wines are unmistakably Jurassic. 'Patchwork' is Chardonnay sourced from plots of 40% clay / 60% limestone. 1 year of aging in barrel. While Tissot’s single-parcel wines are the stuff of legend, Patchwork is the soul of the domaine. 2023 is remarkably vibrant in its drinkability. It balances a creamy, multi-layered texture with a laser-like joyride of acidity. Expect nuances of lemon curd and flint, finished with that signature Jura salinity that leaves you salivating.
