2024 Domaine de Marquiliani, Rose

Corsica is a fascinating island with strong historical and cultural links with Italy, particularly Tuscany and Genoa. I like to say Corsican wines are made from Italian grapes with a French sensibility. This rosé is made predominately from the Sciaccarellu grape (originally Mammolo from Tuscany), with a whisper of Syrah, this is not just any rosé. It's famously pale, almost a "vin gris," reflecting a delicate touch in the cellar and a profound expression of its Corsican terroir. Marquliani’s vineyards are flanked by sea on one side and forest on another, all tucked up against tall mountains. Warm, salty air mists from one side, while cool, brisk mountain air flows down into the valley on the other side and produces this impossibly delicious, delicate rosé. Perfect with oysters or pool side – could drink it with a straw!
