Hofgut Falkenstein, helmed by Erich and Johannes Weber, maintains an ultra-traditional, near-organic farming ethos across their Saar holdings, including the esteemed Krettnacher Euchariusberg. This south-facing site, rich in iron-laced gray slate and quartz, hosts ancient Riesling vines, many ungrafted, which are meticulously hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed. Fermented spontaneously with ambient yeasts in traditional Fuder, the Webers eschew chaptalization or de-acidification, bottling each cask individually to express precise vineyard character. The 2024 Mosel vintage, marked by a challenging but ultimately physiologically ripe growing season with moderate sugars and notably ripe acidity, yields a Kabinett that balances inherent tension with an elegant, light-bodied structural precision. This approach results in a wine defined by its site and vintage, rather than vinification intervention.
