Erich and Johannes Weber of Hofgut Falkenstein remain steadfast in their traditional approach: dry farming, no herbicides, no de-leafing, and spontaneous fermentation in old fuders. This low-intervention method is perfectly suited to the Krettnacher Ober Schäfershaus, a steep parcel characterized by a rare mix of grey slate, quartz, and diabase volcanic rock.

The 2024 vintage, marked by low yields and cool ripening conditions, has produced a Spätlese Trocken (AP-18 'Lorenz Manni') of laser-like focus. The wine displays an architectural framework built on high-toned acidity and distinct mineralization. Despite the delicate texture, the mid-palate is concentrated, leading to a persistent finish that underscores the specific volcanic influence of the site.
