Jean Foillard, a foundational member of the "Gang of Four" who pioneered natural viticulture in the region, has managed his family’s domaine in Villié-Morgon since 1980. This wine is made from Gamay grapes grown on 20- to 55-year-old vines rooted in high-elevation granite soils, specifically sourced from parcels around Villié-Morgon, Lancié, Saint-Amour, and Saint-Étienne-la-Varenne. In the glass, it offers a silky texture with distinct notes of pomegranate, tart cherry, and a stony mineral backbone. The 2024 vintage, defined by a cool and intermittently wet September, produced an ethereal and racy profile that emphasizes freshness. This is a balanced, transparent expression of its terroir that is ready to enjoy tonight, offering a practical entry point into the house style of one of Beaujolais' most esteemed producers.
