2024 M. et C. Lapierre, Le Beaujolais

As of the 2021 vintage, you’ll note a new Lapierre bottling: ‘Le Beaujolais’, a mid-tier offering between the ‘Raisins Gaulois’ and the Morgon. Le Beaujolais macerates twice as long as the Raisins Gaulois, but just as long as the Morgon. The 70-year-old vines lie just outside the Morgon boundary—and are the exact same age as those in the Morgon cuvée, making this a steal. This drinks like a fine red Burgundy and a wine worth far more than the modest price tag. Silky tannins and spicy red fruits and nice minerality.
