2024 Marquis d'Angerville, Volnay, 1er Cru Clos des Ducs

Domaine Marquis d’Angerville is a historic estate in Volnay that gained early prominence in the 1920s when it became one of the first in Burgundy to estate-bottle its own wines. This wine is made from Pinot Noir grown in the 2.15-hectare Clos des Ducs, a monopole vineyard featuring steep, south-east-facing slopes and soils composed of limestone and white marl. In the glass, it shows a refined profile of redcurrant, wild strawberry, and subtle spice, supported by fine-boned tannins and a distinct mineral streak. The 2024 vintage provided a challenging growing season that required resilience, resulting in a fresh, focused wine that retains the producer's signature breeding and depth. While it offers immediate aromatic complexity, the wine possesses the structural integrity to evolve gracefully in the cellar for years to come.
