2024 Olek Bondonio, Langhe Nebbiolo

Olek Bondonio’s Langhe Nebbiolo reflects his steadfast commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, drawing on young-vine fruit from his esteemed Barbaresco crus—primarily Roncagliette and Starderi—with an additional component from parcels in San Lorenzo in Barolo. Rooted in the calcareous marl and clay soils characteristic of the Langhe, the wine is crafted through traditional methods: spontaneous fermentations in concrete, extended macerations, and élevage in large Slavonian botti to preserve purity and site expression. The 2024 season brought an unusually wet spring and a harvest punctuated by rainfall, demanding meticulous vineyard work to achieve full physiological ripeness.

As a result, Olek chose to combine fruit from these top crus into a single cuvée, yielding a Langhe Nebbiolo marked by lifted aromatics, moderate alcohol, and finely woven tannins. The wine shows impressive finesse and approachability, essentially offering Barbaresco-level pedigree without the extended aging requirements of the DOCG. It is a testament to diligent viticulture and transparent winemaking, capturing the elegance of Nebbiolo even in a challenging year.
