Founded in 2014 by António Maçanita and his partners, the Azores Wine Company is based on Pico Island, where they work to restore indigenous varieties and revitalize the region's historic viticultural practices. These vines are planted directly into cracks in volcanic basalt, often just feet from the Atlantic Ocean, and are shielded from salty winds by traditional stone walls known as *currais*. The wine displays a high-energy profile with notes of grapefruit pith, green apple, and a persistent, saline finish that speaks to its maritime origin. The 2025 vintage provided favorable conditions that helped the fruit maintain its signature vibrancy and depth.
