2025 Montenidoli, Canaiuolo Rosato, Toscana

Montenidoli sits high above San Gimignano, a 200-hectare estate with only 24 hectares of vines, restored by Elisabetta Fagiuoli after she arrived in 1965 and found the property largely abandoned. The name means “mountain of the bird nests,” a fitting description for an isolated, biodiverse hillside surrounded by woods, olive groves and old vines. The vineyard sits atop prehistoric oyster fossils and marine sediment left by the Ligurian sea. This rosato is made from Canaiolo, a grape Elisabetta describes as having the power of a red wine with the cut of a white. Tart cherry, citrus and enough structure to feel like more than a patio rosé. Chill it down and enjoy the waves of freshness to come.
