Scar of the Sea, founded in 2012 by Mikey and Gina Giugni, is a San Luis Obispo-based producer dedicated to farming their own sites and working with fellow growers who prioritize regenerative agriculture. This bottling comes from the Bassi Vineyard, a site situated just over a mile from the Pacific Ocean where the vines are planted in sandstone hillside soils. Made from Pinot Noir, the wine shows bright red fruit notes of wild strawberry and cranberry, supported by a savory, iron-like minerality and a silky texture on the palate. The 2025 growing season provided a measured, steady climate that allowed for even ripening, resulting in a wine defined by its fresh acidity and poise. This is a balanced, transparent expression of its coastal home that is ready to enjoy tonight but possesses the structure to hold in the cellar for several years.
