2022 Alberto Oggero, Roero, Arneis

Alberto Oggero farms in the sandy hills of Roero, across the river from Barolo, where Arneis tends to show more lift and aromatics than in heavier soils. He works organically with a light hand in the cellar, keeping the wines focused on site rather than technique.

Fermentation is native, aging stays in neutral vessels, and the goal is to keep Arneis from getting too soft or simple. The 2022 shows the grape in a more precise register—pear, citrus, and almond, with a clean, dry finish that makes it easy to drink.
