Auchentoshan, Lowland Single Malt 12YO, Lowlands

Lowlands Scotches are the unsung heroes of the Scotch world, being less overbearing than the smoke- and peat-laden whiskies of Islay and more elegant than the sticky spice bombs of Speyside. In fact, many of them have unfortunately been mothballed in the last few decades (and now Littlemill and Rosebank go for insane amounts of money). Auchentoshan is one of the few remaining (and flourishing) representations from this region, offering up a whisky that's triple distilled (like its cousins across the way in Ireland) for a light and wonderfully fresh profile of lemon rind, honey, almond, and vanilla.
