Canalicchio estate boasts a rich history dating back to 1962, when Primo Pacenti, a passionate advocate for the land, laid its foundation. In 1967, Canalicchio di Sopra was one of the twelve founders of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. Canalicchio owns some of the best vineyards in all of Brunello. Their geological diversity (galestro soil in Montosoli, marine sediments, and other clay-dominant soils) imparts profound complexity to the grapes. Every part of the winemaking process here exudes excellence; grapes are hand-harvested one by one at optimal ripeness, traditional fermentation methods are employed, followed by extended aging in large botti. Canalicchio has proven they are masters at soil-to-glass transfer; its complexity and finesse shine through each sip.
