2022 Marquis d'Angerville, Volnay, 1er Cru Clos des Ducs

Clos des Ducs is the historic heart of Domaine Marquis d'Angerville—a walled monopole rising directly behind the cellar in Volnay. The vineyard climbs a steep mid-slope band where thin limestone soils streaked with clay sit over fractured bedrock, a site long known for producing some of the most structured wines of the village.

D’Angerville farms the parcel biodynamically and treats it as a single, complete expression of the slope rather than blending multiple sites as is common in Burgundy.

The 2022 vintage delivered ripe, even fruit across the Côte de Beaune. In Clos des Ducs it shows the vineyard’s hallmark architecture: depth, fine tannins, and the quiet concentration that has made this one of the reference points of Volnay for generations.
