Maison Frapin maintains a rare single-estate model, farming 240 hectares of vineyards located exclusively within the Grande Champagne premier cru. The estate’s production is defined by the distillation of Ugni Blanc on its lees in small copper Charentais stills, a technical choice that prioritizes aromatic density and enhanced textural weight. This expression originates from vines rooted in the region’s characteristic crumbly chalk soils, where high active limestone content yields the high-acid fruit necessary for precise distillation. Maturation in Limousin oak barrels provides a controlled oxidative environment, refining the spirit’s initial vigor without obscuring its mineral-driven focus. The resulting cognac possesses a balanced architecture, characterized by fine-grained wood integration and a dense mid-palate that retains the sharp definition inherent to its 1er Cru origin.
