Jean Velut, Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, Lumiere et Craie Brut

A perennial value that has customers coming back for more, this grower is based in the tiny town of Montgueux (just outside the adorable medieval hamlet of Troyes). Montgueux is a lonely island, a raised bed of Turonian limestone that's isolated from traditional Champagne production centers. The Lumiere et Craie punches way above its weight. This cuvee is from organically farmed vines on an outcropping of chalky soils- ideal terroir for growing Chardonnay. This is aged five years before release and uses an old solera system for blending. This wine has loads of character and nuance. A joy to drink.
