2022 Lionel Osmin & Cie Clos Cancaillau, Jurancon Sec, Au Lavoir

This is an outstanding rare wine from the Southwest of France. This dry bottling is made from 100% Petit Manseng. When you craft dry wines from varieties that were in regions historically devoted to dessert wines, you quite often end up with the same magical outcome: a dry wine that has an almost creamy and honeyed entry and a repressed fruitiness to it, which does a brilliant somersault as it moves from the attack to the dry, mineral finish. This hails from 40-80 year old vines in Lahourcade and Cuqueron. They're captivating wines, and they're exceptionally versatile at the dinner table. This textured white wine goes so well with roast chicken and is also a great BBQ white with grilled shellfish or charred herby fish. It's a very gastronomic wine and definitely a wine you’d rather enjoy with a meal vs without.
