2022 Lapo Berti, Dolcetto, Dogliani

Lapo Berti represents a newer generation working in the hills of Dogliani, where Dolcetto has long been the local grape of choice. While much of the Langhe built its reputation on Barolo and Barbaresco, Dogliani has quietly remained one of the purest expressions of Dolcetto in Piedmont.

The vineyards here sit on compact clay and limestone soils that tend to give the wines a little more structure and depth than Dolcetto grown elsewhere in the region.

The 2022 vintage brought warm conditions across the Langhe, producing generous fruit. In Dogliani the wine shows the grape’s classic profile—dark cherry, bitter almond, and a gentle earthy note—balanced by the firm backbone typical of the appellation.
