2018 Roagna, Barolo, Pira

Luca Roagna is one of the most talented and passionate winemakers in all of Italy. His farming is impeccable, and his Barolo and Barbaresco wines never fail to impress with their elegance, subtle power, and purity. They are extremely well regarded by the critics and well represented on Michelin-starred lists the world over. Long before 'organic' was a buzzword, Roagna’s vineyards looked more like wild fields than manicured farms. Luca doesn't care about scores or trends — he’s chasing the transparency of the site. Pira is the Roagna monopole (they own the entire vineyard). It sits in a protected amphitheater in Castiglione Falletto with complex soils of blue marl and limestone.
