2022 Vincent Gaudry, Sancerre Rouge, Les Vignes de Chavignol

One of the region’s earliest adopters of biodynamics, Vincent Gaudry's wines are precise and concentrated, and I find some similarities to Claude Riffault (both are based in Sury-en-Vaux). Gaudry has access to some great terroirs, many on Kimmeridgian marl. The rouge comes from Chavignol. The vineyards belong to Anne Vatan, who has given Gaudry use as thanks for his work helping to farm Clos Neore. Gaudry uses a particularly desirable clone of Pinot Noir known as Pinot Fin.
