2021 Vincent Pinard, Sancerre, Chene Marchand

Vincent Pinard is one of our favorite growers. Exceptionally elegant, pure wines made from impeccably farmed vineyards. Chene Marchand is one of Sancerre’s best single vineyard (lieu-dit) sites within the Bué commune of Sancerre. It’s a southeast-facing slope planted on predominantly "caillottes" soil, an upper Oxfordian limestone, with some areas that have a subsoil of Kimmeridgian limestone. This soil composition and perfect aspect contribute to the noble Sauvignon Blanc wines made on this site with incredible minerality (chalky/flinty), alongside balance, ripeness and acidity. The aromatic profile is subtle with floral notes and hints of herbaceousness, complementing the distinctive mineral character. Vincent Pinard's bottling from Chene Marchand is a nearly perfect representation of this special vineyard site, making it a benchmark for understanding this special terroir. This is really incredible Sancerre!
