This is a labor of love for Jose Luis Mateo of Muradella, who works these low-yielding old vines planted on high-elevation steep slopes with immense care. This particular cuvee is all about expressive raspberry fruit and deeply pitched spice. It’s incredibly fine, generous and balanced. Might seem expensive for something so off the beaten track but honestly one of the most memorable wines at this level in the store.
