Guido Porro is a tiny, family-run azienda that has crafted remarkable traditional Barolo for over four generations. They hold a mere 4.5 hectares of Barolo vines in the Serralunga region. If you love pure, squeaky clean, old-school Barolo, these are for you. Don’t miss them.
This is just the type of Nebbiolo that steals our hearts: delicate, high-toned, and honest. Of course these can age, but they’re already hard to resist straight out of the gate.
Vigna Rionda is a bit like the equivalent of La Tâche in Burgundy—an incredible terroir held in high esteem that renders unforgettable wines. Guido Porro inherited a tiny half hectare of these fabled vines in 2010, and immediately uprooted and replanted them as they were in a state of neglect. Finally, in 2014, the vineyard began rendering noble wine. These vines are at 100m higher altitude than Vigna Gianetta, and the wine is richer and even more supple than the Gianetta with an added measure of depth one expects from this storied grand cru.
