Levet has emerged as one of the greatest old-school Côte-Rôtie producers. The wines have power and grizzly, savory complexity, but also restraint. You get the coolness and minerality of the appellation, the most northerly of the Northern Rhône. Les Journaries is from old vines from La Landonne. A little more powerful than the straight Côte-Rôtie, and good for mid-term aging. Dark fruits, olives, earth.
