Michel Bouzereau (not to be confused with Vincent Bouzereau, Jean-Marie Bouzereau, or Philippe Bouzereau…) is a traditionally-minded Meursault domaine whose holdings include some of the most desirable vineyards in Meursault, as well as some bits in Volnay, Beaune, Pommard, and Puligny-Montrachet. Michel’s son, Jean-Baptiste, has made numerous improvements in the last 15 or so years, including moving to upgraded facilities, converting to organic farming, and dialing back the oak influence. Nevertheless, the house style remains very classical. These are some of the most underrated traditional Burgundies you can find in the market today. The vintage speaks in the Bourgogne Rouge ‘22 via saturated and muscular fruit, but also in considerable vibrancy, which makes it enjoyable to drink now. Still, I expect this to improve for at least another 3-5 years.
