France's longest river passes through some of the most distinct wine country in the world — and in this class, we follow it from start to finish. We'll begin at the Atlantic edge in Nantes, where the ocean makes its mark climactically, move inland through the limestone hills of Vouvray and the dramatic tuffeau landscape of the Anjou, and finish at the eastern reaches of Sancerre, where the Loire meets the flint and chalk of the Massif Central. Same country, wildly different terroirs.
Kimberly Cavoores, Wine and Experience Director of Manhattan Wine Company, will guide you through each stop — what makes each region distinct, how the land shapes the wine, and why the Loire remains one of France's most exciting and underappreciated valleys.
