Amorotti is a new project in Abruzzo that we’re thrilled to introduce you to today. If you’ve ever tried Cristiana Tiberio’s Trebbiano Abruzzese ‘Fonte Canale’ or Valentini’s Trebbiano Abruzzese, then you know the beauty of this powerful and precise noble variety. Last year, we received a small allocation of Amorotti’s Trebbiano Abruzzese, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. This was Gaetano Carboni’s first commercial vintage in the US, and we were incredibly impressed by the wines. They were a testament to the quality of his holdings and his notable skill in the cellar. Until 2016, he had sold most of the fruit off in bulk, producing just enough wine to stock the cellars of his friends and family. Gaetano’s winery is still housed in his family’s cellar in Loreto Aprutino across the street from the famed Valentini cellar. His vineyards are planted in chalky-clay soils high in the hills of Abruzzo and have been certified organic since 2009. The wines are finely tuned and are every bit as compelling as the best wines from the region. The best part is, they don’t come with the same price tag, and represent thrilling wines to enjoy now or over the decades to come. This is a property we eagerly look forward to following (and drinking), and it is terribly exciting for us to offer you the recent releases from this incredible new producer. Do not miss your chance to grab some of these special wines while the pricing is still a bargain when compared to his peers.
Cheers,

Amorotti - Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2018 (750ml)
$37.99 | 24+ Available
Gaetano Carboni’s second vintage of Trebbiano d’Abruzzo is simply stunning. This is a wine of minerality and power with ripe orchard fruit balanced against a citrusy cut. Made from the noble Trebbiano Abruzzese variety rather than the far more common and often innocuous Trebbiano Toscano, the wine is deeply pitched with a smack of flinty minerality. It was fermented and aged in untoasted Tonneaux for one year, yielding a wine loaded with textural appeal that remains unmarred by new oak flavors. If you adore Tiberio 'Fonte Canale' and Valentini’s Trebbiano, then you are sure to enjoy this wine especially considering the modest price tag.
Amorotti - Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2018 (750ml)
$37.99 | 24+ Available
Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is a unique style of rosé, typically much deeper in color with more structure and intensity to match. Amorotti’s 2018 Cerasuolo is made entirely from direct pressed Montepulciano and aged for one year in used botti before bottling. The wine is loaded with pure sour-cherry and citrus fruit accented by effusive spice and plenty of lift. Vibrant and bone-dry with crackling acidity, this is much more than a simple quaffer. Try it with grilled meats this fall, or stock a few bottles away for the years to come. If you enjoy Beaujolais or more serious rosé like that of Château Simone or Clos Cibonne, then you really need to check this stuff out. Please drink with a slight chill and roast yourself a chicken. This is remarkable juice that is a joy to drink!
Amorotti - Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2016 (750ml)
$41.99 | 24+ Available
Gaetano Carboni captured something quite special in this Montepulciano bottling, creating a wine with inviting, supple and juicy red fruit. There is a vein of earth and depth in the wine alongside alluring spice undertones, but more than anything, it is the impeccable balance that makes an impact. Fine-grained tannins and lifted acidity give the wine elegance more often seen in Sangiovese and Nebbiolo than Montepulciano. This is remarkably good Montepulciano with a long life in the cellar ahead of it - that is, if you can resist pulling the cork now.
