Made from Bical, a unique grape from Bairrada, a maritime-inflected region most famous for its piercingly dry reds (made from Baga). This should be a first stop for those who like textured whites and crave something new. Salty, buttery, oily, subtle petrol, and quite piercingly dry beneath that richness. Very balanced: rich and textured, yet super dry. I imagine a salted pineapple-infused lemon custard, with plenty of fresh-squeezed lemon juice. An excellent ambassador for Portuguese whites! Winemakers Nuno Mira do Ó and João Soares were on the hunt for old Baga vineyards, and when they found one with 80-120 year old vines, it sealed the deal on their professional partnership. It also happened to contain some Bical planted alongside Baga! Ageworthy, undervalued, delicious.
