Clos Cibonne is an estate that is known first and foremost for their unique Provence rosés made from the rare Tibouren grape variety. In the wake of phylloxera, the estate was replanted to this ancient grape that is amongst the most revered in Provence but one that has also fallen out of favor in the region because it is difficult to work with in the vineyard. Clos Cibonne is now blessed with especially old vines in cru classé vineyards that yield wines that are simultaneously intense and layered while maintaining impeccable freshness. The Cuvée Speciale des Vignettes is 100% Tibouren that is aged in large foudre for one year under a veil of flor in a similar manner to Fino Sherry, a technique that lends the wine a pleasant nutty inflection. This is a true vin de garde, a rosé that is built to age for 5-10 years for anyone who is patient enough to wait that long. Frankly, it is a rosé like no other!
