Pierre Morey makes immensely appealing Burgundy that consistently retains a distinct sense of place, and given their pricing, they rank among the best overall values in the world of white Burgundy. The wines certainly don’t scream out of the glass, but they subtlety wash over you with an unmistakable balance that is exactly what we hope for whenever we pull a cork. These are classic Burgundy wines in every sense of the word. As Anne Morey, Pierre’s daughter, has joined the estate, the Domaine’s wines have improved and feel increasingly refined with each passing vintage. Anne raised 2006 and 2009 Meursault Hospice de Beaune barrels for Manhattan Wine Company which were outstanding; she is a prolific winemaker in her own right. This basic Bourgogne Blanc punches well above its weight and is consistently one of the very best Bourgogne Blancs year in and year out.
