2024 Envínate: Open, Expressive and Delicious
June 17, 2026
Across the board, these wines are expressive of their terroir, with broadly textured midpalates and gorgeous fruit complexity. The Lousas Doad in particular has the serious structure and framing to go the distance in your cellar, while Taganan Blanco is exactly what you would want out of a wine born of these coastal origins: salty, nervous energy, with notes of orchard fruit. In fact, I will go on record saying that with a bit of age, Lousas Viña de Aldea is consistently one of my absolute favorite wines in the world under $50.
Translating to "wine yourself," Envínate is the brainchild of four friends—Roberto, Alfonso, Laura, and José—who met while studying enology. Today, they are still producing some of the most profound, honest, and exciting wines in Spain. Focusing on the Atlantic-inflected regions of Ribeira Sacra and the Canary Islands (with a brilliant detour to the Levant), they aim for pure terruño expression. They use no chemicals, harvest entirely by hand, use foot-trodden grapes, and ferment exclusively with wild yeasts.
These are soulful, terroir-driven wines that over-deliver on every front. Below is a selection of their standout cuvées from this release, including extremely limited single-parcel wines from Tenerife.

THE WINES
Ribeira Sacra (Galicia)
Lousas refers to the local slate soils found in the Amandi sub-zone of Ribeira Sacra. These Mencía-based blends show a balance of firm structure and a refined character.
2024 Lousas Viña de Aldea -12+ btls @ $37.99/btl
This village wine from Ribeira Sacra is sourced from 20-60-year-old plots on steep slate slopes at elevations between 400 and 600 meters. A blend of 90-95% Mencía with native co-planted varietals, this is a solid cellar candidate under $50. It has the density to age well, likely showing more regional nuance over time.
2024 Lousas Doad - 12+ btls @ $45/btl
Sourced from vineyards in Doade ranging from 23 to 65 years old. This is 89% Mencía blended with 10% Garnacha Tintorera, Brancellao, Merenzao, and Grao Negro. The soil changes from schist in the lower vineyards to gneiss and quartz at the top, which results in a wine with noticeable minerality and a clear aromatic profile. While this wine is widely perfumed, the palate delivers noticeable power that needs some time in the bottle to settle.
Tenerife (Canary Islands)
Ancient, untrained vines growing wild on primary volcanic rock, often on cliffs right above the crashing Atlantic Ocean. Farmed by hand without chemicals, these are some of the most unique wines on earth.
2024 Taganan Blanco - 12+ btls @ $45/bt
A white blend made from native Canary Island varieties (Listan Blanco, Albillo Criollo, Marmajuelo, Malvasia, and other vines). Farmed by 15 local families, these parcels are located 30-75 meters above sea level. It has a distinct saline quality and a broad range of orchard and citrus fruits with complete mid-palate and length driven by its coastal origin.
2024 Taganan Tinto - 12+ btls @ $45/btl
Made from old, untrained vines of Listan Negro, Listan Gaucho, Malvasia Negro, and other indigenous grapes. Fermented with wild yeast and 30% whole clusters, the wine has a peppery quality and a distinct volcanic character that reflects the Tenerife coast. If you like wines from Mt. Etna, this would be a wine worth exploring.
2024 Tenerife, Parcela Margalagua Taganan – $94/btl (Only 9 bottles available)
Margalagua is a steep organic parcel 150-250 meters above the Atlantic. The vines are over 100 years old, phylloxera-free, and grow wild. A field blend of Listan Negro, Baboso, Negramoll, and more, fermented whole-cluster and aged in neutral French oak. It is a clear representation of volcanic soil.
2024 Tenerife, Palo Blanco Las Molinas – $94/btl (Only 6 bottles available)
From the Valle de la Orotava, which is influenced by trade winds and high-altitude fog. This is a single-parcel Listán Blanco from the Los Realejos vineyard. It features a saline profile and a distinct texture.
The Levant (Castilla-La Mancha)
2024 Envínate Albahra – 12+ bottles @ 29/btl ($26.10 on 12+ bottles)
Named after the vineyard area in Almansa, this is a Mediterranean blend of 70% Garnacha Tintorera (foot-trodden with 30-50% stems and raised in concrete) and 30% Moravia Agria (a high-acid grape aged in used French barriques). It is bright and easy to drink, offering good value for a Spanish wine at under $27/btl.
