There is still value to be found in Burgundy. Over the last decade, the world’s most famous wine region has become increasingly difficult to drink on a Tuesday night without feeling a little guilty.

The secret to drinking affordable Burgundy is twofold: look for lesser-known appellations (like the Mâconnais, Maranges, or the Hautes-Côtes) and seek out the "entry-level" cuvées from legendary producers and trust your local retailer to continuously be on the hunt for new names that deliver value in this increasingly expensive region.

Today, we are thrilled to offer a selection of white and red Burgundy, all priced at $100 or less. This list includes everything from Crémants de Bourgogne, Chablis, and thirst-quenching Aligoté to Côte d'Or Pinot Noir. You’ll even spot a few infamous names like Lafarge and D'Angerville.

Sparkling

You may not know this, but they make some remarkable Méthode Champenoise sparklers in Burgundy. I am sure many of you are familiar with Bruno Dangin, whose Crémant we have carried here at the shop since day one. Here is a little refresher. Bruno and his wife are located 5km from the border of southern Champagne (the Aube). Same Kimmeridgian limestone soil. Same winemaking technique as Champagne. This is basically Champagne, without the prestigious name, at half the price of Champagne and equally as delicious.

If you love Bruno's wines, you should check out his wife, Alix Chaudoreille's label, Marie de Louvoy. While Alix shares the same winery space as Bruno, her project is entirely her own. Her vineyards are completely separate—though also located in the prime terroir of Molesme—and her winemaking takes a different, more hands-off approach. Alix champions a low-intervention approach, using less sulfur and less sugar/dosage, resulting in a drier, more mineral style. The result is a pure, vibrant, and energetic Rosé that easily goes toe-to-toe with top-tier grower Champagne.

2024 Domaine de Chassorney, Auxey-Duresses Blanc, Les Crais - 12+ btls @ $57/btl ($51.30 with case discount)
Auxey-Duresses sits in a valley between Meursault and Saint-Romain. Les Crais translates to "the chalks." The name itself is a direct reference to the limestone and chalky marl in the soil. This is a super elegant wine with a beautifully mineral spine.

2024 Jerome Fornerot, Saint-Aubin, 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc - 8 btls @ $82/btl
En Remilly literally shares soil with Chevalier-Montrachet. Fornerot's plot sits at the southern end of Saint-Aubin on the border of the Grand Cru appellation Chevalier-Montrachet

2022 Pierre Boisson, Bourgogne Blanc, Les Belles Cotes - 7 btls @ $70/btl

This is a small, bottom-of-the-slope parcel in Meursault, barely three-quarters of a hectare, sitting where the clay runs deeper. That depth is exactly the point. While the limestone soils higher on the hill produce leaner, more angular wines, the clay down here builds texture and body into the glass. It drinks with a generosity you rarely find at the Bourgogne level.

At a fraction of the price of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, Robert-Denogent's wines offer tremendous value, wonderful richness, and impressive complexity.

2022 Domaine Thibert, Saint-Veran, Bois de Fee - 12+ btls @ $64.99/btl ($58.49 with case discount)
Thibert deliberately holds back vintages before releasing. The domaine systematically holds its wines and releases them only after three to five years of maturity for certain cuvées, a choice Sandrine describes as natural, because a serious Saint-Véran or Pouilly-Fuissé deserves time. That means a 2022 on the shelf right now is intentional, not leftover stock.

2024 Luzien Muzard & Fils - Meursault, Les Meix Chavaux - 4 btls @ $100/btl (+ few more cases avail with importer)
Top-tier Meursault is practically impossible to find for $100 a bottle anymore. For context, Roulot's Les Meix Chavaux trades for $250 and up. Brothers Claude and Hervé Muzard are the 9th generation to lead this insider, Santenay-based Domaine. Their old-vine Meix Chavaux (planted in 1935) offers incredible value from this special terroir defined by its incredibly shallow topsoil. With such shallow topsoil, the vines are forced to dig straight into the limestone bedrock. The result is a total departure from the heavy, fat style of Meursault—instead, it is piercing, mineral-driven wine with beautiful aromatics and a precise, mouth-watering finish.

Light & Thirst-Quenching Reds
Passetoutgrain & Bourgogne Rouge are the ultimate "bistro" wines. These blends of Pinot Noir and Gamay are juicy, bright, and absolutely brilliant when slightly chilled.

2023 Maurice Charleux & Fils, Bourgogne Rouge - 12+ btls @ $34.99/btl ($31.49 with case discount)
This Bourgogne Rouge comes from Maranges fruit, not generic purchased juice. The grapes grow in clay limestone soils and are cold-soaked for three to five days before fermenting with native yeasts in cement tanks or foudres. It drinks like a village wine because it essentially is one without the village classification.

2022 Michel Lafarge, Bourgogne Passetoutgrain, L'Exception Anthologie - Magnum - 1 Mag @ $95/mag
The vineyard was planted the year Michel Lafarge was born. This is a special bottling created as an homage to Michel Lafarge and to the vineyard planted in the year he was born. The Pinot and Gamay vines were planted in 1926. Michel died in 2020. You are drinking nearly a century of one family's relationship with a single piece of ground.

2023 Michel Lafarge, Bourgogne Passetoutgrains, L'Exception - 8 btls @ $45/btl
Same Les Lombois lieu-dit, same near century-old vines, same equal parts Gamay and Pinot Noir, same biodynamic farming. The Anthologie magnum is the top selection from this ground. The L'Exception is everything else, which at Lafarge means it is still extraordinary.

Serious, terroir-driven Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and beyond. Classic, elegant, and ready for the dinner table.

2023 Marquis d'Angerville, Bourgogne Rouge - 7 btls @ $85/btl
The Bourgogne Rouge comes from several plots in the eastern part of Volnay, on deep clay soils. In 2019, the domaine acquired an additional hectare near its historic plots, which it vinified with the same care as its premier crus and village appellations. The appellation says Bourgogne. The address says Volnay.

2023 Michel Lafarge, Bourgogne Rouge - 12+ btls @ $53/btl
Like the d'Angerville Bourgogne, the plots sit in the eastern part of the commune of Volnay on deep clay soils rather than purchasing fruit from anywhere in Burgundy. The label is regional. The address Volnay.

2023 Philippe Jouan, Coteaux Bourguignons, Cuvee Thomas - 12+ btls @ $50/btl
It is 100% Pinot Noir from Morey-Saint-Denis, labeled down because of a road. This is, in fact, all Pinot Noir but is too far from the main road below Gevrey and Morey to be allowed the Bourgogne Rouge appellation. The autoroute, not the terroir, is the reason it says Côteaux Bourguignons. The grapes come from four parcels just below the autoroute in Morey, from 50-year-old vines. There is a reason I left this in the village category.

2023 Gerard Julien & Fils, Cote de Nuits-Villages, Armand - 8 btls @ $64.99/btl ($58.49 with case discount)
It is a blend of the domaine's best parcels, not a single lieu-dit. Jasper Morris describes it as a blend of the plots Armand bought in the 1930s, specifically Dominode, Julbigne, Plante des Bois, and the older parts of Essards, made with 25% whole bunch and aged in 45% new wood, with the highest class nose of the three cuvées from the domaine. This is not a simple village wine. It is a curated assemblage of the family's best vineyards.

2024 Gerard Seguin, Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes - 12+ btls @ $99.99/btl ($89.99 with case discount)
The vines were planted by Hippolyte Seguin in 1920 and by Pierre Seguin in 1950. The vineyard faces south, on very stony filtering soil in the Combe Grisard alluvial cone, joining Charmes-Chambertin at the locality called Reniard.

2023 Rapet Pere et Fils, Savigny-les-Beaune Rouge, 1er Cru Aux Fournaux - 12+ btls @ $69.99/btl ($62.99 with case discount)
The 2023 is everything you want from Savigny right now. Forward, aromatic, elegant, and accessible from the first pull. The vines are over 50 years old on iron-rich limestone and clay on the north side of the appellation, where the best premier crus live, southwest-facing, just below Aux Vergelesses and Les Lavières. Rapet's home village, Pernand-Vergelesses, is literally across the road. This is their backyard, and it shows.

2023 Henri Prudhon & Fils, Saint-Aubin Rouge, 1er Cru Les Frionnes - 7 btls @ $52.99/btl
Saint-Aubin's reputation is built almost entirely on white wine. The reds are an afterthought in most conversations about the appellation, which means the pricing has never kept pace with the quality. This is a fragrant wine emphasizing elegance over power. Seven bottles is not enough.

2021 Hubert Lamy, Santenay, Clos des Hates - 12+ btls @ $75/btl
The 0.67 hectare parcel sits above the village of Santenay, bordering 1er Cru Passetemps, on a gentle slope with deep clay soil. Village appellation, premier cru neighbor. That geography matters.

2020 Lamy-Pillot, Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge, 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean - 6 btls @ $74.99/btl ($67.49 with case discount)
Clos Saint-Jean is historically the greatest red wine site in Chassagne-Montrachet. The climat was farmed by Benedictine nuns before the year 1000. Considered by many to be the greatest terroir for red wine in the entire appellation, Clos Saint-Jean sits high up on the slope overlooking the village itself. Chassagne is a village the market thinks of as white wine country. That assumption is the reason this bottle is priced where it is.
